When Flowers Bloom
Do you ever wonder why we send flowers to lift someone's spirits? As a child, I was forever pestering my mom with questions about things like that. She rarely knew the answers, always telling me to, "Look it up." Of course, back then, "look it up" meant a trip to the library and searching through card catalogues for books that might contain the answers, so I usually just moved on to something else -- ha ha! As an adult, I've come to think that we give flowers because the sight of those beautiful blooms reminds us of how life is continuously renewed around us in the world, despite hardships. As the saying goes, "When flowers bloom, so does hope."
Today we have a beautiful card by designer Kren Kurts celebrating this idea. Kren used an old, retired basket stamp from her collection, and then layered in a variety of blooms from the "Bloom and Grow" set. This is such an amazing bouquet she has created! I love the way she crafted the greeting piece, too, with the double length of twine linked through the holes of the tag. I sure would feel blessed to get a basket of love like this -- how about you?
