A Get "Whale" for Dale with Kathy D.
Although many of us craft cards to create a "stash" to have on hand for various needs, sometimes we want our cards to be very personalized. That was the case for Kathy D., our September Guest Designer, when her dear friend, Dale, went in for open heart surgery a couple of weeks ago. Knowing that she would be designing some projects for us anyway this month, Kathy asked me if I happened to have a whale digi. She mentioned that there was a story from Dale's childhood about a pink whale with a purple tail that he and his sisters were very fond of. So, "Dale the Whale" was born and, yes, one of the colored versions in the set is pink with a purple tail!
Kathy used this set to create a couple of darling cards. The first, at the top of today's post, is the one she made for Dale. She paper-pieced the little whale and his spout, and then printed her own personalized greeting (not included with this digi set) directly on to this fabulous patterned paper. If you look closely at the paper, the faint circle pattern on it resembles ripples in water.
For this second card, Kathy used the grey precolored whale from this same set, along with the "Get whale soon" sentiment. She added torn strips of paper to create the look of ocean waves for "Dale" to swim in. How fun is that?
