Snowflakes with Tamara Dixon

Snow: it's something we don't get much here in Northern California, and yet, when asked what I associate most with Winter, snow is exactly what comes to mind. How about you? Snow is truly iconic, and today our November Guest Designer, Tamara Dixon, has created a spectacular card showcasing that which is at the heart of snow -- snowflakes!

Tamara used an image, paper, and sentiment from the "Snowflakes" set to create this 5.25-inch square card. The classic navy blue cardstock by Bazzill, along with the grey ink (Memento London Fog) that she used to highlight the elements really make them stand out to the eye. She added rhinestone accents by Want2Scrap that glisten just as snow does in the sunshine. Isn't it gorgeous?!? Tamara isolated the single large snowflake against a backdrop of so many others and really dressed it up. You can see where she sponged the ink around the image to make the snowflake stand out, and added the rhinestones to the end and center points. What you might not be able to see in the photo is that she glossed up the snowflake with clear Wink of Stella, and that the background paper glistens like real snow, thanks to the Shimmer (frost) she added. I am told by a mutual friend who has seen this card in "real" life that the effect is truly stunning!

Here's what the inside looks like. Here Tamara highlighted a sentiment from the "Snowflakes" set, and sparkled up the snow mound that she added.

Everything about this is so lovely, but especially the message! If we think of ourselves as snowflakes moving through life, we each shine in our own ways like the snowflake that Tamara highlighted on the front of her card, but it is when we stick together, like mounds of snow, that we truly accomplish!

Tamara will be back next Wednesday to share one last project as our November Guest Designer, so don't miss out! In the meantime, you can see more of her beautiful work at her gallery at Splitcoast Stampers.
