Ladybug Hugs

"Ladybug hugs"'s one of those silly things my girls and I used to "give" each other when they were little, along with "butterfly kisses." I don't know if ladybugs can really give hugs, but it's a cheery thought, isn't it? :-) Here is a lovely card made by designer Donna Hanley using the "Ladybug Hugs" digi set, which is all about cheery! The CAS ("Clean And Simple") style of this is perfect with this image, as is the way Donna repeated the "dots" pattern from the ladybug's shell throughout the card in her choices of papers and embossing textures. Also, although you might not realize it at first glance, Donna actually printed the image and sentiment straight on to her yellow dotted paper. It's a great look, and a fun and easy way to keep things looking CAS when you are going for that style!

When Life Gives You Troubles...

When life gives you troubles...blow bubbles! That's what our little mouse friend on today's fabulous card share by designer Carol Longacre is doing. I have it on good authority that it works, too! ;-) You can find this little guy and his wise words of encouragement in the "Greatest Joy" set. Carol did such a marvelous job of bringing him to life, creating a whole happy little garden world around him. All the tiny details she included in this -- from the fluttering butterfly to the snaps on the little mouse's overalls --  make it so cheerful, and show so much care: just what is needed for a wonderful card of encouragement like this!

Hang in There & Sponsoring at Outlawz Challenges!

We made it to the middle of the week -- hooray! Some weeks seem so long, don't they? Depending on what we have going on in our lives, the days can just seem to drag by. But the good news is that, if we "hang in there," there is always a weekend on the way!

For today's inspiration, I thought I'd share a card of encouragement that I made with the new "Loads of Love" set. I colored the bloomers pink because this will be going out to my sister, who I've mentioned before, is battling breast cancer. She needs all the encouragement she can get right now! For the layout, I used last week's sketch from Outlawz Challenges. I have been meaning to share all month that we are sponsoring the Sketch Challenge at Outlawz this month, but with a million things on my mind, I keep forgetting. At any rate, there are still two sketches this month left for you to join in, including a new one posted just today. I hope you'll stop over and join in the fun, and possibly win some free digis from our shop! :-)

Our Rock

I have come to firmly believe that the key to happiness is gratitude. Recognizing and being thankful for the blessings in our lives -- salvation, family, friends, a home, plentiful food, clean water, clothing, etc. -- goes a long way towards feeling "fulfilled" in life. Still, there are times when I flounder, when I feel insignificant and incapable. In those times, I try to just "be still," and let the Lord be my "rock." I take stock of all the wonders around me, and remember that God created this whole amazing world with purpose, and that He instilled each living creature with capability to "keep going." Take hummingbirds, for example. They are tiny and delicate, but so capable of amazing feats of aerobatics! And while they might otherwise be vulnerable to predators due to their tiny, delicate build, He gifted them with incredible speed. If He would do this for a tiny bird, how much more did He do for each of us?

Today's card share, by designer KT Fit Kitty celebrates this amazing world that God designed for us, and that He is always there, our rock, strong and capable when we are weak and failing. Isn't this an amazing scene that Kitty created using the "My Life is Blessed" set? She really brought the "world" to life around the hummingbird with her use of dies and papers. And front and center is that lovely reminder -- "The Lord is my rock...." Although the sentiment is not one of mine, I believe it makes this card shine all the brighter! :-)

Challenge Inspiration Week 4

It's the last week to join in our April Digi of the Month Challenge. Have you played yet? If not, you have until this Sunday evening to link up your project and qualify to receive next month's featured set for FREE!

Designer Zella Turley has made a wonderfully woodsy card to get you thinking about what you might make with this month's featured set, "Under Your Wing." Zella used a wood grain embossing folder to create a little tree for her owls to sit in -- so sweet! The layout is playful, and the oranges, yellows, and browns Zella used in this give the card such vibrancy. Fun!

As always, we really look forward to seeing what YOU make with this set.  :-)
