Time Invested (Scrapbook Saturday)

Time spent with loved ones isn't just time spent, it's time invested! For today's Scrapbook Saturday share, designer Melissa Craig has made a delightful page celebrating some of the time her children and their grandma have invested together. It might seem like such a simple activity -- making Easter bags together -- but you just know from looking at these pictures that the bonds being built between these three and their grandmother is far from simple, and so very, very precious!

To create this page, Melissa used elements from the "Handmade Happiness" set. The Spring color pallette and crafty nature of this set both coordinate wonderfully with the theme of Melissa's page. The layout that Melissa used is so fun, too -- it reminds me of a film strip, and makes me long to see the next frame in the series. Scrapbooking should always be like that, don't you think -- celebrating the memories, but also inviting curiosity about what happens next! :-)

Sketch Challenge at the Outlawz Challenge

We are sponsoring the Sketch Challenge this month at Outlawz Challenge! There will be a new sketch challenge every Wednesday at Outlawz Challenges. We will be posting our samples on Thursday since Wednesday is Guest DT member day and we want to show off Tamara Dixon's beautiful work too!

Here is this week's sketch used as our inspiration, and a couple of samples from our team to get you thinking.

Creative Corners with Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog

We are sponsoring Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge Blog this week (Nov 5th - Nov 11th) and the challenge is Creative Corners. Which I loved because I hardly think to use decorative corners and this made me get out of my comfort zone. I hope you will come play at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge and you will have a chance to win a $10.00 gift code from Deedee's Digis. Which would be AWESOME since she just added more cute items to the store....check them out in the Newest Releases Section.

Do you tend to use corners or is it something you forget about too? Either way I hope you will add some corners to your card and join in the challenge!

November Guest Designer: Tamara Dixon!

Please welcome our Guest Designer for the month of November -- Tamara Dixon! Tamara is a card-maker and fellow sister-in-Christ. She first came to my attention through our monthly challenges and through her gallery at Splitcoast Stampers. What I love about Tamara's crafting style is how clean and classic it is! I have seen her use a variety of techniques, including some that I know can get pretty messy -- ha ha! -- but no matter what, her cards always have such a classy look to them!

For her first share, Tamara created a super sweet card using the "Hay Ride" set. She used a gate fold for the layout, and was tickled to share with me that she managed to use all of the digital papers included in the set. On the front of the card, she layered the image of the scarecrow toting her crow friend directly on to the leaf-patterned. This really sets the Fall scene, don't you think? She then layered the leafy paper over the gingham paper, and used her "Rectangles" and "Deckled Rectangles" dies by Spellbinders to cut the image piece that holds the card closed. She added some glittery accents to parts of the image using a Sakura gel pen (falling leaves) and clear Wink of Stella (hay). Here is what the inside of the card looks like:

You can see that she used the third paper -- a "hay" pattern -- here, and again, layered the pre-colored image plus one of the sentiments from this same set directly on to the paper before printing. The result is a darling, uplifting card that is perfect for Fall! Looking at this card sure gives me a lift -- how about you? :-)

We'll be back with another share from Tamara next Wednesday, so stay tuned. In the meantime, for more inspiration, please visit her personal gallery at Splitcoast Stampers. She has some amazing cards in there for you to peek at!

A Fix and a Freebie!

Hello, crafty friends! I have just a couple of bits of news to share with you today.

First, it was brought to my attention recently that some of you were struggling with the "Search" function at our shop. It took some time and experimenting, but I've finally got it working correctly -- hooray! You should now be able to search by set name or subject and pull up the sets that you are looking for. Thanks to everyone who let me know that this was a problem -- I appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to improve your shopping experience with us!

Second, I've added a new freebie to the shop. "Checked Recipe Cards" is now available for you in the "Try Before You Buy" area of the shop. I don't know about you, but I do a ton of baking this time of year, especially gift items, so I thought these might be helpful to have around. This set also coordinates well with this month's featured set -- "Mix it Up," and might be a fun addition to your challenge creations this month. Enjoy! ;-)

Happy Trails to a Few Talented Ladies

Today we say "happy trails" to a few of our talented designers who have decided to move on to other pursuits. A special thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to KT Fit Kitty, Danielle Vincent, Judith Wright, and Gail Scott, for the amazing inspiration that they shared with us the last few months. Ladies, you will be missed! As we send them off, I thought I'd share one last project by each of them today. Don't forget that you can always visit them at their blogs to keep up with their fabulous creations! :-)
