Snowman Soup (Freebie!)

One of the most fun things about this time of year is the opportunity to make treats for others. Whether as a stocking stuffer or just as a little gift to cheer up someone special,  "Snowman Soup" is one of my favorites to make and share. To help you make some, too, I've added a new "Snowman Soup" digi set to the shop. It's currently available for FREE, through next Friday, November 21. Enjoy!

Never heard of "Snowman Soup?" It's a little kit that you put together (like the one shown at the top of this post) that is made up of a packet of cocoa, some marshmallows, and a peppermint stick. Then you tuck in a cute little poem to explain the theme of the kit. You can find all sorts of poems on the Internet. I wasn't sure about the legality of "borrowing" one of these for my digi set, though, so although it took me days (literally!), I finally was able to write a silly poem of my own.

Of course, this digi set doesn't have to be used to make "Snowman Soup." It would make cute cards and scrapbook pages, too. Here's a darling card that Carol - Happy Expressions made using it. Super sweet, don't you think?

Ready for another sketch?!

It is another week in November so that means there is another Sketch Challenge at the Outlawz Challenge. Here is the sketch for this week's inspiration.

Here are Deedee's and Kathy's takes on the sketch:

It is time to use black cardstock

That's right it's time to dust off the black cardstock and put it to use! We are sponsoring Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge this week (Nov 12th - Nov 18th) which is Use Black Cardstock! Now I can use black cardstock without thinking about it until you TELL ME to use it then I draw a blank! Does that happen to anyone else? Well Deedee nailed it with her adorable Thanksgiving card!

After thinking and thinking this card came together in a flash once I figured out the sketch I was going to use!

Hope you will come play along with us!

Happy Thanksgiving with Tamara Dixon

Every day is filled with blessings, large and small. Scripture instructs us to be thankful at all times, but it is still to fun to have a special day set aside each Fall for giving thanks, don't you think? For this week's share, our Guest Designer, Tamara Dixon, has created a gorgeous card celebrating this extra special day of Thanksgiving.

To make her card, Tamara used an image and sentiment from the "Autumn Blessings" set. She combined a gate fold with an easel layout.

Tamara used some of the glorious "Fall Harvest" papers by Tim Coffey (K & Company) to set the stage of her card, along with richly-colored cardstocks by Bazzill.  She cut out the image and sentiment pieces using the "Petite Ovals" and "Petite Scalloped Ovals" dies by Spellbinders. She also inked these pieces lightly around the edges, giving them a little visual "pop" along with a very elegant and polished look! Finally, Tamara accented the area around the sentiment piece with a few brown "baby bling" rhinestones by Want2Scrap. The final result is a "card" that is an delightful gift as well! Who wouldn't cherish having this to display on their mantel throughout the holiday?

Thank you, Tamara, for blessing us with your share today! To see more of Tamara's lovely creations, please stop back next Wednesday, or visit her gallery at Splitcoast Stampers.

Thank You to Our Veterans!

Today in the United States, we celebrate "Veterans' Day." Freedom does not come free, so I think it is awesome that we have a special day set aside to show our appreciation for those men and women who serve in the military (not to mention their families!) and who sacrifice so much every day to provide that freedom.

I've made a little card of thanks to share with you today. This was made with the image from the "Snow Thankful" set. This set will always be free in our shop, so that anyone who wants to can make and send their own cards of thanks. As a member of a family with many service veterans, I can tell you that those cards are very, very much appreciated.

To our veterans, an extra special thank you. May God bless and keep you and your loved ones today and every day!
