The challenge at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge that starts today is Anything Goes - Christmas. So if you finished a last minute project and haven't posted it yet OR you want to get a start on next year's Christmas cards, this is the challenge for you! If you enter the challenge you will have a chance to win $15.00 in digis, and with 75% off digis right now that is a lot of digis!! So come over and play with us!
Oh my goodness what a hectic last few days this has been!!! So much research and prayer, and sounding out ideas, and more research and LOTS more prayer and listening for God's will in this. But long story short, we have found a way to keep the shop OPEN!!! The bottom line is this: the new VAT tax laws only apply to downloads. The EU government buried it deep within obscure documentation, but we were able to confirm, finally, that digi files that are emailed to customers are NOT subject to the taxes!
SO...here's what needs to happen for this to work. Within our main shop there will need to be two mini shops -- one for our European Union customers, and one for our non-EU customers. The EU shop will contain all the same products as the non-EU shop, but they will be labeled as "EU Version" in the listings, and as "Physical" products behind-the-scenes. This means that EU customers will still be able to shop with us, but your digis will have to be emailed to you. Our non-EU customers will still be able to download digis directly.
This change will require some patience on the part of our non-EU customers, but I hope you will feel it is worth it to still have the digis available to you. Simply put, I won't always be able to email you the files immediately upon purchase. As a busy wife and mom, I do sometimes have to be away from my desk -- LOL! But I do promise -- barring true emergencies -- to get them to you within 24 hours of purchase, OK? Even if I have to be away, I will make arrangements so that happens.
Getting the shop to work this way is going to take a lot of rebuilding, so please expect the shop to be under construction for a bit. Like I said, I need to have two duplicate shops inside the one, and from the bit of fiddling I did last night, there is just no low-time way to accomplish this. To that end, I probably won't have any new digis available until next month, save the February Digi of the Month. And yes -- there will be a February Challenge complete with a new set!
Now I'm sure some of you are wondering, so I'll answer: yes, the 75% off sale will still continue thru the end of January. I made that offer and will stick by it. Prices will go back to normal February 1st. Likewise, the January Digi of the Month will remain free to everyone, and those of you who join our January "Digi of the Month Challenge" will still receive a $10 gift code to the shop for playing. But you'll also get a new digi set at the end of the month, and how cool is that?
Before I close, I want to say a huge, heart-felt thanks to all of you who sent up prayers on my behalf to find a way to stay open, and to the many of you who were so kind and encouraging these last couple weeks. God heard you, and He made a way, and I'm so grateful.
Once the Christmas season of giving ends, the time for thank you note writing begins! For her last project share as our December Guest Designer, Pippa Price has created a wonderful "thank you" set to inspire you.
Using just her computer and elements from the "Handmade Happiness" set (available HERE for non-EU residents and HERE for EU residents), Pippa designed and printed this sweet set of notes, notelets, and coordinating envelopes. She used one of the digital patterned papers from this set as the background for each piece, adding pretty white frames in the centers. She accented each piece with the same pre-colored mouse image, and added the "Thank you kindly!" sentiment to the notes and notelets. She then printed everything out. Super easy to make, but also super cute, don't you think? Pippa reminds us that although she didn't hand-color the images herself this time, the option is always there with digis, as is the ability to add additional layers and trims to make these more complex, depending on your crafting style. You could make these to keep and use yourself, or as a gift set for someone else.
We are so thrilled to have had Pippa as our Guest Designer this past month (thank you, Pippa!), and hope that you've gotten a lot of crafty inspiration from her delightful collection of projects. Although her time with us is over, please remember that you can visit her blog -- "Views from the Craft Room" -- for ongoing inspiration!
**Please note that this post has been modified from the original.** It's time for a new Digi of the Month challenge! We had thought that this would be our last challenge, but in light of recent discoveries and -- praise God! -- finding a way to keep our shop open, we will have a February challenge after all! Still, we have some fun twists this month, as promised. But first, take a peek at this month's featured set -- "Ice Fishing."Who knew sitting out on the ice waiting could be so much fun?!?
Anyone who participates in this month's challenge will receive a $10 gift code to the shop. With our current rock-bottom sales prices, you should be able to have a bit of fun shopping with that! Play as many times as you like, and we'll send you a $10 gift code each time, BUT each entry must be unique, and shared in a separate post on your blog or gallery.
Everyone who plays along this month will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift code to the shop. Again, each time you play, you'll be entered into the drawing.
Finally, as usual, everyone who plays along with this month's challenge will receive next month's featured set for free at the end of the challenge.
So there you go -- fun, fun, and more fun! A few of our designers made sweet cards to inspire you to create something wonderful with this set.
Now, of course, it's your turn! To join this month's challenge, please make any wholesome project using this set (it doesn't have to be a card!) and then link directly to your project using the linking gadget at the bottom of this post by 11:55 pm Pacific Time on Sunday, 1 February 2015. We will email the $10 gift codes to participants as your projects are linked (please allow a 24-hour turn-around time), and announce the winner of the $50 gift code here on the blog on Monday, 2 February. We'll email next month's set to all of this month's participants that same day.
