3-D Saturday: Last Sip of Sweet Summertime!

This week was "Back-to-School" week for my family. << Insert sad sigh here! >> Well, summer vacation may officially over, but we've still got a month of the official season left. So here from DT member Melissa Craig is a fun "3-D Saturday" project to help you sip that last bit of summer -- quite literally -- down to the last drop!

Aren't these little bottles, with their coordinating decorative straws, awesome?!? As soon as I saw them, my mind started racing with the possibilities. Pool parties, baby showers, birthday parties, bridal showers, stocking stuffers, classroom gifts...oh so many occasions, celebrations and seasons to play with, and so many digis in our shop that one could use to customize each set with!

For each bottle/straw combo, Melissa first made a straw from scratch by rolling a piece of 1.5- by 12-inch patterned paper. She then dipped the straw into melted paraffin to make it waterproof. When they wax had cooled (not long with paraffin!), she topped it with a popped up butterfly image from the "Caity Caterpillar" digi set.

Melissa garnished the bottle with a shiny gold tag, embellished with a layered image and sentiment from the "Grillin' & Chillin'" digi set.

This shape of bottle (and many others) can often be purchased pretty inexpensively at the craft store. Alternately, recycled Prima Paper Flowers(TM) or Starbucks(TM) bottles work perfectly. An altogether easy and adorable project with which to celebrate that last bit of summer...or any other fun occasion, don't you think? Thanks for another great idea, Melissa!  :-)

  1. Fabulous ideas for sure. I love the way Melissa hung the tag around the bottle and the straw is a fantastic idea. I never even thought to do something like that. Thanks so much for sharing this precious little gift idea.
