This month we are thrilled to welcome Margaret Ashby -- a.k.a. "Granmargaret" -- as our Guest Designer. If you are an active craft challenge player, you have no doubt encountered Granmargaret out and about. She is a member of several design teams as well as a very active challenge participant herself. She is also a fellow sister in Christ, and her sweet, encouraging cards always make me smile! When I asked Granmargaret if there was any info about herself she'd like to share with you all, here was her response: "I will be 70 in April and I live in Sydney, Australia with my husband Tony. I am and have been a Christian since 7 years old. I have two daughters (Lynda and Angela) and four granddaughters. I was made redundant at work at the end of January 2013 so after 53 years of working I am now retired. I started stamping and making cards in 1995 and started scrapbooking about 1999 and making ATCs in 2005. I am still a cute stamper. I started my blog in April 2012 with the help of cyber friends and started joining challenges. I was really happy to find other blogs to give me new ideas for my cards and then excited to be invited to join some design teams. I have lots of rubber and clear stamps but use mostly digital stamps now as they are easier on my sore hands. I am group Mum on some yahoo stamping groups and I run a craft group by mail. I suffer from fibromyalgia and arthritis and have eye problems so spend my days making cards, a little scrapbooking and talking to my cyber friends on the internet. This helps take my mind off the pain. I have made many more cyber friends since starting my blog. My eldest Granddaughter called me Granmargaret when she was little as my mother was living with us then and Angela called her Grandma and Sarah heard Mum calling me Margaret. Now all my grand daughters and their friends call me Granmargaret. Lynda and I are cancer survivors and we thank God for every day and for all our friends who pray for us. Thank you for the invitation to be Guest Designer at Deedee’s digis, I have enjoyed making the cards for February." Don't you love getting to know a little bit more about the crafters we interact with and are inspired by every day? That is one of my favorite things about having Guest Designers!!! When she learned the date of her first post as our Guest Designer (February 4), Granmargaret shared with me that was 'World Cancer Day', and that she wanted to make a card of support. As both she and her daughter are cancer survivors, she knows first-hand how valuable it can be to have others who are pulling and praying for you when going through treatment. Well just look at the amazingly encouraging card she created! Using pre-colored elements from the "Think Pink" and "Passionately Pink" sets (both available for FREE in the "Try Before You Buy" area of our shop) she put together a darling little scene that practically shouts "HOPE!" This is sure to bring some much-needed sunshine to someone's day. Thank you, Granmargaret, for sharing this, and for helping us to be aware that today is World Cancer Day. There are so many individuals who can use our support and prayers for healing today and every day! We'll be sharing another of Granmargaret's sweet creations next Wednesday. In the meantime, please stop by and leave her some love at her blog -- "Grandmargaret's Cards & Stuff."
