Snowball Fight (Scrapbook Saturday)

"It won't stop snowing, and Winter seems as if it's never going to end!" Does this sound familiar? It seems to be a common refrain this year especially. So what do you do when the snow won't let up? What else? Play in it!

Snow play is clearly the theme of today's Scrapbook Saturday share by designer Melissa Craig. As you can see in her photos, the snow has piled on pretty deeply, but the family is definitely making the best of it. I am no fan of snow, but there is something totally exhilarating about getting out of the house for a bit after a storm and burning off the "cabin fever" with a good snowball fight! Not to mention how it totally turns around the experience of going back inside. Suddenly, after wearing yourself out and freezing your fingers and toes for a bit, "inside" is fun again. Funny how that works!

Melissa set the scene for her fun-loving family photos today using elements from the "Snowball Fight" set. She matted the largest photo on one of the patterned papers from this set, and accented it with duplicate flying snowball images. She "painted" in some lovely, soft snow banks along the bottom of the page, and then layered in the pre-colored images of Bigelow Bunny and Oscar the Cat. Shaping her last two photos as circles really adds to the "snowball" theme. Beautifully made, and oh so fun!

If you have your own snow play photos to scrapbook, or just want to send someone a card of encouragement that, yes indeed, the Winter will eventually pass, you can find our "Snowball Fight" set in the shop:

Dancing in the Rain and a Challenge!!

Sometimes while in the midst of a storm we tend to see all the bad that is happening. Which is easy to do when you can hardly breath before the next rain comes. But what would happen if in the storm we looked for the good that is happening? Sometimes it is just changing your prospective....instead of being miserable in the rain...splash around....get dirty!! I sent a text message to a friend this week that is going through several rain storms...one right after another. I asked her how she was doing that day and her response was "I'm tired of being negative so I'm not going to answer that question!" Which made us both laugh. She knew she needed a new prospective because the rain was going to keep falling and it wasn't helping by being negative about it. So when Donna sent me this card for her post I knew right away that is was perfect for letting people know that there will be storms, but when you give your troubles to God you CAN dance in the rain because he is carrying your burden.

Donna knew this sentiment was important because she made it the focal point of her card. She also designed it around spring with all the rain and beautiful flowers popping up everywhere. I love how the bear is pointing to the beautifully framed sentiment. If you want more details please visit her blog: Indiana Inking.

Donna told me that she was going to make a different card this week but it didn't work out so she went with this. I'm thinking God is pretty awesome to send us this reminder and to even put it on a craft site so we will see it!

I'm not sure if Donna had anyone in mind when she made this card but I have a challenge for you!! Send out a card in the next week to a friend, family member, stranger, college student, etc..anyone you think could use a smile in their mailbox. Come back and leave a comment telling us about your card (and link to card if you want). I will pick one random person from the comments (that sent a card) and you will get surprise prize!! I will post the winner next Wednesday in the Guest DT post.

I hope in the midst of your week that you will see the "beauty" in the storm. Just remember the rainbow will come because God promised us.

A sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I love sketches and all of my cards start with a sketch. Sometimes they look just like the sketch and other times they take on a life of their own! Kren made a beautiful card that she kept pretty close to the sketch. Today we drew inspiration from sketch #291 at Tuesday Morning Sketches which is being sponsored by Deedee's Digis this week. So check out this versatile sketch and come play with us.

Thanks for stopping by today!
See you tomorrow with inspiration from our Guest DT Member, Donna.

White on White with Fan-Tastic Tuesday

White on White cards are so beautiful and admire the people that can make them. Kren and Pippa made it look so easy with their beautiful cards... but it is not easy for me! Come join in the White on White challenge over at Fan-Tastic Tuesday.

Both Kren and Pippa used the same image to make their cards!

Pippa also made two different sympathy cards this week that also fit the theme
so I wanted to show them off also.

Time to "shape" your card

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge says it is time to break away from the traditional card shape and design a Shaped Card. This one was a little hard for me so I did just a bracket type shape while Faith went all out and did a Top Hat!

I would love to see where creativity takes you with this challenge of a shaped card! Come join in the fun for a chance to win a $15.00 gift code to the store.
