Send a Smile for Kids

At "Send a Smile for Kids," the challenges are always about making and sending cards to and from kids! They are a charitable blog whose mission is to collect and donate cards for children (and their parents and caregivers) who are inpatient at Children's hospitals. They vary their themes on a bi-weekly basis to help keep their crafters inspired. This week we are blessed to be able to sponsor this amazing challenge! The theme of "our" challenge is to make a card for a mother or other female loved one from a child.

Kathy and I both had a lot of fun with this challenge! She made a darling purse card using the new "In the Bag" set. Every lady knows that a purse is a necessity, right? So why not a purse card, too? I love that Kathy printed the purse on to textured paper, and fussy-cut the image so that the strap of the purse hangs outside the matte. Both give this a great look! The colors are also warm and cheerful!

For my card, I used the newly re-released "Spring Blessings." Teddies always bring a smile to my face, so this digi seemed the perfect choice. I tried to emulate how my girls used to make cards for me when they were little -- always with bright colors, ribbon or rick-rack, punched out shapes, and of course a few sparkly jewel accents. This card couldn't normally go to a young child because of the tiny jewels on the butterfly (choking hazard!), but it definitely could go to a child's mommy!

Now, we would love for you to play along over there in the next couple weeks to enter to win some digis, but more importantly, we'd really love for you to donate whatever cards you make for this challenge to Send a Smile for Kids! Think of the many smiles your cards could generate during a tough time for one or more families! Information about how to donate and guidelines to follow in your card-making can be found right here on their blog.

Wishing you a very blessed Easter weekend as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!!!

The Lord Liveth! with Word Art Wednesday

This week we are sponsoring the ever-so-encouraging challenge at Word Art Wednesday. I can't think of any better week for us to be sponsoring than the one right before Easter! As you probably know by now, at Word Art Wednesday, you may join the challenge by sharing any paper-craft project that you make that includes an encouraging sentiment or Scripture verse. The challenge is, however, Christ-centered, and each week they offer participants a free Scripture word art verse, created by Karen Murray. I encourage you to hop over there this week if for no other reason than to see the fabulous, uplifting projects their team have made, to read their thought-provoking devotional, and, of course, to snag this week's word art by Karen! It is all about the amazing miracle and joy that is Easter to Christians -- the Lord liveth!!!

Of course, we have some inspiration for this challenge for you, here, too! :-)

Introducing the April Guest Designer: Debi of That Might Look Good on a Card

It's April 1st and here at Deedee's Digi's we are excited to introduce you to our April Guest Designer:  Debi from That Might Look Good On A Card!  Honestly, I think Debi can make ANYTHING look good on a card - you'll be a believer too when you visit her amazing blog and see her beautiful creations.

For her first Guest Designer spot Debi used a wonderful set for Easter called "Uneggspected".  You can find it HERE if you are a resident of the European Union, or find it HERE if you are NOT a resident of the EU.

Now look at that card..isn't it amazing?  You haven't seen anything yet...check this out!:

Now how super creative is that??  I'm amazed and I'm sure you are as well.  The colors Debi used are just perfect for Spring and Easter...and even a super creative fold!  WOWzers!

Here's a little bit about Debi from Debi:

I make cards with an occasional odd project, especially when my grandsons are here.  I am intrigued by different techniques and folds, love embossing folders and fussy cutting.  Many of my cards are donated to Operation Write Home and Send a Smile 4 Kids. You might find me at an Heirloom or Stamp Scrap Art Tour stamping show teaching the Make n Takes at a friend's CTMH booth, which I thoroughly enjoy.  It's so much fun meeting fellow stampers and exchanging tips and tricks.   I teach occasional classes for a group of Red Hatters - feathers, bling and tons of fun!  I enjoy crocheting, baking and my grandkids, so don't be surprised to see some of those projects as well as pictures of my 1 yr old great granddaughter on my blog,  That Might Look Good on a Card.

We'll be seeing more lovely creations from Debi each Wednesday in April.  Be sure to stop by her blog and look around...and of course - leave her some love because we all enjoy to read those special comments on our blogs.

God bless you!!!!

Time to get ready for the Spring & Summer Weddings

Fan-Tastic Tuesday Challenge #79 wants to see your Wedding Cards this week. It's the perfect time to make up a few wedding cards to have on hand. Stephanie and Faith made some beautiful samples to get you inspired.

I love the simplicity with boldness of the purple. Did you see she added the grey under the cake to give it something to sit on...clever!!

Check out all the coolness she did in Photoshop!! I don't understand the "technical" stuff so if you want to know how she did this check out her blog! (click on her name above)

Different styles of wedding cards but all so beautiful! I hope we have inspired you to play in your craft room today.
