Deck the Halls with Craftyhazelnut

You might not be thinking of decking the halls quite yet, but Craftyhazelnut is! This week at the Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge, they want to see your "Deck the Halls"-themed projects.

I have to admit to being a bit over the top when it comes to decorating for Christmas. If it stands still, it runs the risk of getting decorated -- ha ha! Still, I try to keep it tasteful, and so often use natural decorations -- evergreen, mistletoe, and of course, as featured on my sample card today, holly! To make this card, I used both the "Mistletoe & Holly" set and the "Merry Christmas Kit" set  By layering the holly image and a sentiment from the "Mistletoe & Holly set" over one of the tags from the "Merry Christmas" kit, before I printed it out, I was able to make a unique tag. The tag itself is popped up from the background of the card (made with coordinating papers from the "Merry Christmas Kit") with dimensional tape.

So, how do you "deck the halls?" We'd love to see!

Anything Goes with Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge

"Anything Goes" challenges are perfect for this time of year, don't you think? Summer schedules are typically looser and a bit more care-free, what with the longer days and what-not. So why not the challenges too, right? This week at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge, you can enjoy this crafty freedom, and maybe win some of our digis while you're at it!

Kren and I both took up the challenge this week, at our own pace, of course! :-) Here's what we made to share with you:

A little Monkey Business!

Our Guest Designer for July has been busy at work again....this time she's been "monkeying" around.  Yep - she used "Monkey Business" for her card this week.  It's the most adorable set!  Check out what she did:

Isn't this adorable?  I just love those little monkeys!  You can find out details about her card (and of course leave her some love) at Patacake Pages.  I know she would love for you to stop by and browse for a bit.

I asked Pat what her favorite technique is and's what she had to say:  “I ink; therefore I am” I love to distress my projects with inked edges and to color images and doodle with my Copics.

I'm going to have to use that phrase - I ink; therefore I am....LOVE IT!

Come back next week and see what Pat has in store for won't be sorry!!!!

Clear It Out!

This week's challenge at the Clear It Out Challenge blog is "Anything Goes." At Clear it Out, they always want you to follow both the theme AND to use some crafty materials that you've got stashed away. Be it paper, old adornments, images you printed years ago -- whatever you've got, this is a great opportunity for you to clear it out. I love these challenges, because they always inspire me to dig deep into the mess that is my crafting area! Marji and I both dug deep this week, and here's what we created to inspire you. We hope you'll dig deep into your own stash and make something fun to share, too!

Anything Goes with Scrapbook Blessings Club

We are sponsoring Scrapbook Blessings Club for the month of July and their theme is Anything Goes! with an optional twist of watercolors if you would like a little bit more of a challenge. This is what they say about the twist: (Your project can be watercoloring with pencils, markers, gellatos, SU crayons, etc. It can be water coloring the image or making a background with watercolors.)

I tried to do the optional twist of watercolors but just couldn't get it to work. I'm not good at it and can only do it right if my friend Stephanie is standing next to me helping me. That is why I love Deedee's Digis pre-colored and outline images because you get both and you can use whichever one you are most comfortable with! So after many attempts I decided to forget the watercolor image and just use a pre-colored no twist for me!

Deedee tried her hand at it, too. Watercoloring is not her favorite technique to use with digis, but she pushed through and made a card using the new "Summer Birth Flower Cupcakes" set. Deedee wanted a "summer-y sunset" look for the cupcake, so she painted the cupcake with bold reds, oranges, and purples, with just a little pink and white added in.

I did want you to see a variety of truly awesome samples of watercoloring so a couple ladies from the Scrapbook Blessings Club allowed me to show off their images here. If you want to see samples from the whole team head over will be blown away!

Deedee's Digi is at the Beach this week!

Deedee's Digis is sponsoring Outlawz CAS Challenge this month. They have a NEW CAS challenge each Sunday and today's challenge is "at the Beach". CAS is always a challenge for me. I spend more time on a CAS card then a regular one. But I am happy with the outcome of this one so it was a good push out of the comfort zone!

If you haven't looked at the new releases in the last week you must check it out....several new ones!! She just released Beachy State of Mind which would be perfect for this challenge!

Hope you will come play in the challenge with us for a chance to win a $25.00 gift code.
