Got Butterflies?

Ask your average person if they like "bugs," and the answer will most often be a resounding, "No!!!" But then again, what about butterflies? With their colorful wings, and the silent, graceful way they flit about, they seem more like tiny dancers than "bugs."   Over at the Allsorts Challenge Blog this week, they would love to see your butterfly-themed creations, and so would we. There could also be a gift code to our shop in your future if you do play along!

Here is a darling card made by our own teamie, Kren Kurts, to inspire you. Kren used the butterfly image from the "Bugs & Blooms" digi set to create this. How fun is the file folder shape of this card? And if you look closely, you'll see the neat way Kren first layered the patterned paper on her card, and then embossed the whole piece. What a great way to create texture, and such a lovely background for a beautiful butterfly!

Dog Days of Summer

Pat Martin of Patacake Pages has been our Guest Designer for July and each week she has shared her FABULOUS work with us!  Pat's emails have a quote by Frank Tibolt in her signature:  "We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing.  Action always generates inspiration.  Inspiration seldom generates action".  Pat's actions here certainly generates inspiration!

This week Pat used Dad's Day Off and Goody Jars.  I don't know why I never think of combining sets - see what I mean?  Pat's actions are inspiring me!

Pat's top 3 go-to craft items - "I couldn't live without my Copics, my ink pads and my specialty scissors - it has a 1/2 inch cutting span and works like tweezers in that you press the handles in to cute.  Very necessary for fussy-cutting".  Pat must have used those scissors when she cut out the dog and all those bones!  What do you think?:

Adorable right?  Why not take a few minutes and hop on over to Patacake Pages to let her know what a fabulous job she has done!!!!  Thank you Pat - for another great source of inspiration!!!!  Can't wait to see what you have to share with us next week.

Clean and Simple!

In papercrafting, "clean and simple" is sometimes the best -- although not always the easiest! -- way to go. And "clean and simple" is exactly what the team at Addicted to Stamps and More would love to see on your projects this week.  If you're not familiar with the term "Clean and Simple," it refers to projects that focus more on the design itself than on layers of papers or embellishments. For me, "clean and simple" can be challenging. When I first started making cards, what I made always followed this style. There just weren't a lot of options available for embellishments and papers at that time. But in the last 15 years, the market has been flooded with choices, and that can make it difficult at times to choose what to add to a card! Still, when free time to craft is of a premium, clean and simple wins -- hands-down -- every time!  So now, with that in mind, here is what I came up with for this challenge.

I used elements from a couple different digi sets to make this. The tag outline is from the "Doodle Tags" set. The pattern on the tag is a paper from the "Seashells" set, as are the sand dollar image and the sentiment. I inked the edges of the white card base, and tore and inked the sentiment, too, to give this a bit more rustic look. The sentiment and sand dollar are "popped up" with foam dimensional tape. I thought the button had a bit of a seashell look to it, which was fun. Again, the focus here was on the design of the card, and not on the layers of paper or embellishments.

We would love to see what "clean and simple" inspirations you have to share this week. Whatever you make, don't forget to link it up over at Addicted to Stamps and More for a chance to win some of our digis! :-)

Teddy Bears Picnic with Outlawz CAS Challenge

The theme of this week's CAS challenge over at the Outlawz Challenges is "Teddy Bear Picnic." Teddy bears? Well, we certainly have those here at Deedee's Digis! I truly couldn't think of a more fitting challenge for us to sponsor. :-) The idea behind this challenge is simply to "bring" a teddy bear to the "picnic." In other words, make a card using a teddy bear. Don't forget that, in keeping with the overarching theme of the challenge group, you must keep your card clean and simple. This is the latest challenge in the month of challenges that we are sponsoring there, and every week that you play along gives you a chance to win a $25 gift code to our shop!

I decided to "invite" this little teddy bear from the "Fall Teddies" digi set to the picnic this time around. I positioned the image and sentiment so that they would print directly in the center of my card. As my only embellishment, and to give this a bit more of a "picnic" feel, I added a little country border of gingham paper along the bottom edge of the card.

Who will you  invite to the Teddy Bear Picnic? We have a lot of teddy friends at Deedee's Digis for you to choose from!

Scrapbook Blessing Club Reminder

You have 12 days left to play in the Anything Goes - optional twist: watercolors over at Scrapbook Blessings Club.

Faith is here to inspire you to come play in the challenge. That neat watercolor look behind the bear is actually a digital paper. So she didn't make the watercolor paper but she did represent "watercolor" in her design. This cute card also shows off the Digi of the Month - Ice Cream Truck. Which if you make a creation using this image before August 2nd then you will get next months digital image FREE!! (**Yes, she extended the date one week this month!!**)

Have a blessed week!
