Send a [Holiday} Smile 4 Kids

We're very excited to be sponsoring again at Send a Smile 4 Kids. This challenge blog supports the charity by the same name, wherein card makers can create and send handmade cards to share with children while they are inpatient at hospitals throughout the United States and Canada. Crafting and sending in what you make for these challenges is a wonderful chance to bring cheer and encouragement to children in need!

The theme for this week's challenge is Happy Holidays 4 Kids. Faith Anderson from our DT has made an extra special card for this challenge, using elements from the "Cup of Cheer" and "Blue Christmas Kit" digi sets. Isn't the snowglobe layout of this card creative? The snowy digital background that Faith created, combined with the glimmering snowflake embellishments really bring the scene together. What a huge smile this will bring to some child's face!

Please do check out the information on the Send a Smile 4 Kids blog, and consider donating some of your handmade cards! Not only do they need cards that meet their weekly challenge themes, but also Thank You, Birthday, and other cards that the children use for their parents and care staff. What a great chance to make a positive impact in the world!

Anything Goes with Crafty Girls Creations

Sometimes you really want to share what you made for a challenge, but you also really want to 'do your own thing', too. That is where 'Anything Goes' challenges are perfect! The lovely ladies over at Crafty Girls Creations are offering one such fun challenge this week. Stop over and see their team's fabulous makes, and then share whatever crafty creation you've come up with today, too. It could win you some of our digis. What's better than 'doing your own thing' and winning a prize for it, too? ;-)

Marji (aka "Tiggerscraps"), Mary (aka "Carolina Cards"), and Pippa from our design team love to do their own thing in paper crafting. Here are a couple of their latest makes to inspire you today. Enjoy!

Monochromatic Is Beautiful, Too!

There is a tendency to think of 'monochromatic' as 'colorless' and/or 'boring'. But the truth is quite the opposite! Although a vibrant variety of colors in one's projects is definitely visually appealing, so can a monochromatic palette be. Most of us, however, aren't terribly comfortable crafting this way. For just this reason, the ladies over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges have challenged us all to give it a try! Carol Longacre and Sheena Mckee from our design team decided to take up this challenge.

See how beautiful monochromatic colors can be?!? We hope that you'll give this challenge a try, too. If you do, don't forget to link up over at Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenges for a chance to win some of our digis! :-)

November Guest Designer:

A new month brings a new Guest Designer.  For November we are honored to have Rene join us as a Guest Designer.  Please stop by her blog - Life in the Craft Lane - to learn more about Rene and see her wonderful talent displayed!

For her first project Rene used Autumn Harvest.  She kept the card a CAS style and used great Autumn colors to accent the image.  Isn't it lovely?

Here's a little bit about Rene:

I live happily single in Cape Town, South Africa, the most beautiful city in the world. I work full time and am a part-time artist & crafter. My favorite hobby of all is reading and I read anything & everything. When I don’t read, I like to think up things to do/make and keeping myself busy doing/making it. I dabble in different crafts including cards, sewing, crochet, knitting and beading.
Arts and crafts has been part of my life since I can remember. Some of my fondest memories are from art classes at school, especially the finger paint times. I haven’t done much painting after school, but it is on my to-do list. For a year I even did some pottery which is so much fun. My hands needs to be busy, even when I’m reading! Then I will knit or crochet with my book on a stand, stopping to turn pages or have some coffee.

I really like paper crafts, because one can create spectacular items with minimal tools and materials, and basic materials are still affordable, even with the R/$ exchange rate not favorable.
Walking, visiting friends and spending time at the theater (on stage or behind the scenes at a community theatre) are other pastimes.

In 2010 I started blogging when I applied for a DT. Well, that one didn’t happen, but I did get a spot on another forum. A few of us, from all over, decided to start “Crafting By Designs” when the forum closed. I’m still on the DT and still having a good time with my friends who I see as part of my online family.

Working with Deedees Digis is such a joy. The images are interesting with something for everyone. The sentiments are fun and versatile. The scriptures and verses come in when one needs some special words to say. I enjoy using the papers too! I’m really thrilled that I can be Guest Designer for the month and I hope that I will inspire more people to visit the shop and get some Digis!

Be sure to stop by and visit her at Life in the Craft Lane and leave her some love.  Come back next Wednesday to see what she has in store for us.

November Digi of the Month Challenge

Are you ready for a new Digi of the Month challenge? Well, we've got one for you! This month's featured set is "Polar Peace." Now I know it's still Fall, but I also know that most of us are crafting towards the winter holidays and events at this point, so I thought this would be a good choice for this month. With this set you could make projects celebrating Christmas, winter, birthdays, friendship, generosity, or whatever else your imagination inspires you with!

If you participated in last month's challenge, you should have already received this set in your email. (If you participated but didn't receive the set, please contact us at -- sometimes things do go wrong with email). If you did not participate in last month's challenge, you can still purchase this set for just $1.25 this month HERE in our shop.

Here's a little inspiration from our team to get you thinking. I just love seeing how differently everyone crafts using the same set, don't you?!? We'll have more inspiration from our designers throughout the challenge, so be sure to check back!

Now it's your turn! To join this month's challenge, please make any wholesome project using this set, and then link directly to your project using the linking gadget at the bottom of this post by 23:55 (11:55 pm) Pacific Time on Sunday, 29 November 2015. If you are inspired to make more than one project we would love to see them limit on the number of times you can enter! You must make at least one project and link it up below to get next month's featured set emailed to you. We can't wait to see your creations! :-)

If you are new to our "Digi of the Month" challenges, it's not too late to join in the fun! This is a monthly progressive freebie challenge, and you can read about how to join in HERE.

Inspired by a Song

Do you listen to music while you craft? I sure do! For whatever reason, a little music always seems to help get my creative juices flowing. Sometimes I even get inspired by a particular song to draw or craft something special. If you find yourself sometimes inspired by the music that you listen to, the ladies at the Crafter's Cafe have the perfect challenge for you this week! Their theme is "Inspired by a Song," and naturally if you link up a project for this challenge, they would love to hear which song inspired you. Faith and Kathy both had fun playing along, and here's what they made:

Song Inspired By: "We Three Kings"

Song Inspired By: "Oh Come All Ye Faithful"

Beautiful Christmas cards, both! You can see more projects inspired by music and created with our digis over at the Crafter's Cafe. Of course, if you play along, you could also win some digis! :-)

Are You Ready for the Christmas Decorations?

It's November 1st, and ready or not, the shops are or soon will be filled with Christmas decorations. I hear a lot of complaining about this in real life, but as crafters, it's a little bit different for us, as it takes time to get all of those beautiful Christmas cards made! If you're ready to pull out the Christmas decorations for your cards and other projects, and maybe win some of our digis to play with, check out the new challenge over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge. The month-long theme for November is "Christmas Decorations." Perfect!

One of our new team members, Faina Sanchez, has created a darling sample for this challenge. Oscar and Felix really get into Christmas decorating, and Faina has showed them off here beautifully! The texture on the background piece reminds me of a lovely wallpaper, and the little gold accents really shine out.

Do stop over at Sparkles Christmas Challenge if you're ready for the Christmas decorations. If you're not, well that's OK, too -- we'll have many more opportunities for you to win digis throughout this month! :-)

Meet Our Newest Designers!

We are thrilled to introduce the newest members of the Deedee's Digis Design Team! Welcome, ladies -- it is such a joy and a blessing to have you!

We'll have lots of lovely projects from these talented ladies to share with you here in the months to come. In the meantime, why not visit their blogs and take a peek around? You won't be disappointed :-)
